How do I clean a Puma Fishing Knife?

I purchased at an estate sale a vintage Puma Solingen Germany Fisherman's knife that has been sadly neglected and is in need of cleaning. I am unable to find a serial number on the blade that would indicate the year of manufacture. What's the best way to go about cleaning it up without degrading it further? I only paid a dollar for it and plan to resell it eventually.
