Looking for a moving company in Chicago. How to find one without getting scammed?

I'm planning a long distance move from Chicago to Houston in about 6 weeks. I've already heard horror stories about movers holding belongings hostage or giving lowball quotes then charging double at delivery. What should I actually be looking for when hiring long distance movers? What questions do I ask? What red flags should make me walk away immediately? This is a 2-bedroom apartment worth of stuff so not a massive move but not small either.
