I try to avoid getting involved reddit and online spaces as a whole
Im in my early mid teens... i live in a pretty secular 'progressive' city. It feels like i cant have a simple conversation with someone without them thinking i'm crazy. Theres barely any christians here and those who say they are are no different from the ones that arent. Its affected pretty much every part of my life for both good and bad.
The good being that ive leaned to be quite independent and stepping back from it all has helped me see things for what they really are and become less reliant on others
The bad being that when people call you crazy you start to wonder if you really are.
Its affected my family life too... two people had known some things about my beliefs and started insisting we 'talk about them' i declined because i knew it wouldn't be productive but eventually was pressured into it... i had reasons in my head to back my beliefs but i had never really debated them which meant things came out wrong and the pressure didnt help. They kept insisting that this was just helping me debate better but it eventually just devolved into 'youre singleminded' and arguements like 'were past those times now'. When talking about abortion they pretty much said im doomed to be an incel (these people have not long graduated from university to have an idea on what kind of people they are) and yet theyre family. And near the end they pretty much said 'youre black and you live in [city] you shouldnt think this'. And it had me thinking im crazy for the rest of the week until i realised how stupid the whole thing was.
And then not to mention the kinda stuff they teach you in school like 'not being against trans people isnt enough you have to be an ally' and you just have to sit there. And then its like 'believe what you want and we support you... but you? nah dont say a word.'
Sometimes its annoying sometimes its not but its life and i needed to vent
Matthew 7:13-14 NIV
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
