If a job posting has an email to the recruiter attached, and an "apply now" portal, which should you use?

As question above, should you use both application methods or is that too pushy? I emailed the recruiter as requested on the job ad, but their website (where I found the ad) also has a seperate "APPLY NOW" button with a digital application form?
