Can mechanics help me remove a rusted stripped bolt?

Hi,

I tried to change the air filter for my CRV and one of the bolt/screw is rounded/stripped and I cannot remove it. I cut a slot using a Dremel but still cannot turn it with a slot-head screw driver. I'm thinking about shaving the side of the bolt head to make it less round and try again with a wrench. But it's been frustrating.

Would it be of any use taking it to a mechanic? Do mechanics have more tools/techniques at their disposal to handle situations like this? Or am I screwed?
