What is the park's definition of disabled?
Hey campers!
I am trying to look into the option of choosing 'disabled adult' in the reservation app.
I am not looking to cause any friction about this. I am just looking for clarity so I don't feel like I am in the wrong, if I do choose it.
Also I am emailing Ontario parks directly to find out their perspective and clarity straight from the source... So this is more of a post because now I can't stop thinking about it and I will have to wait for a reply for who knows how long lol 😅
Anyway here's the deal.
When I looked into the questions section, it stated information about disability parking permits and mentioned stuff about people who are seeing impaired and very lightly on accessibility. Also it was only talking about camping in the front country.
Absolutely nothing about mental disabilities and camping in the backcountry. Although, there's still the option to choose disabled adult when you book your backcountry trip.
I am just looking for better context behind this. I feel like we can all agree that the website is subpar, regardless of what we are looking into.
Disabilities come in many different ways, shapes and forms. It feels like the information I was able to find, just left everything extremely vague. With no real understanding of what the park needs for a person to 'show proof' if asked.
I just find this very odd and would like to know what others think or feel about it. Maybe direct me to a page that I could have missed.
I would appreciate any help you might have.
This can sometimes be a triggering subject to some, so please do your best to be kind!!
The backcountry is for anyone who is willing to work a little harder, in order to relish in the tranquil beauty.
