Her
I sit here in the truck and watch her as she goes into the store; no one else sees it as I do - her grace, the way she reaches for the door handle, an angel among us devils.
I watch her at the counter exchanging everyday pleasantries with the clerk.
Can anyone else see the light?
They don't. I see, I understand.
What a treasure
What beauty among a dull gray background.
My God, here she comes, as she makes for the door.
Looking at me with only a glance,
Wars have been started for such things I feel now.
I think I'll melt into the background.
She reaches the side and sits mere inches from me.
Takes out a pack of cigarettes and I have none. now gives me everything that she wants me to have.
She lays them on the console and looks over at me in such a way that I have not been honored with since.
My God she's beautiful.
Another memory, one of thousands.
