In Pain 2 Years Post Cholecystectomy and with medical anxiety due to complications

NSFWPain Lvl 7-9

Just over 2 years ago, I had a laparoscopic cholecystectomy to remove my gallbladder that resembled a little bag of marbles. That was after 3+ years of intense pain and flares. I mostly managed it with diet rather than pain control.

It seemed like it all went well except that I had a complication from the operation, diastasis rectii. I have never been pregnant and had no issues prior to the surgery, but it’s been getting worse but I’m sorting that out soon with a physiotherapist. My main issue is that I have started having flares again right where my gallbladder was. That pain is a burning, stabbing pin. And the scar just under my sternum really hurts. It’s like a stitch, almost like something behind the scar is stuck down in the wrong way and won’t move the right way.

When I went back to the doctor and the hospital, I was straight speaking and told them the impact the « mock hernia » was causing me. Including discomfort and pain, and a significant weakening in my core. The doctor looked at me and basically said « that’s not a real hernia, you are just fat »! To say that I was taken aback, and significantly disheartened by this. Now that I am having more issues that feel connected I am experiencing significant anxiety at the thought of going back.

I guess my issues are the following:

  1. Is this likely related? And if so any ideas?

  2. How do I approach a doctor to be taken seriously and not dismissed as a fat woman being hysterical ?

Meds are metformin, jardinace, fluoxetine, Statins, gabapentin, otc pain meds like ibuprofen and codeine when needed

Conditions: Type 2 diabetes, with fibromyalgia

The pin by the way is different than peripheral neuropathy or my standard fibromyalgia pain.

During flairs pain in approx an 8, stays for up to 20 mins and then fades again.
