WooCommerce Site Very Slow on Mobile – PageSpeed Score in Red – Need Help

How do I…?

Hi everyone,

I’m facing a serious performance issue with a WooCommerce store I recently built. According to Google PageSpeed Insights, the mobile score is consistently very low (around 25–35), especially on product pages.

The biggest issues reported are:

  • First Contentful Paint: ~3s
  • Largest Contentful Paint: 8–10s
  • Total Blocking Time: 2–3 seconds
  • Speed Index in the red

Desktop performance is much better, but mobile is struggling badly. It’s starting to affect Google Ads performance and conversion rates.

The site is built with Astra and WooCommerce.

Hosting setup:

  • Cloudways (4GB RAM, 2 Core CPU)
  • Breeze caching enabled (minify, combine CSS/JS, caching on)
  • Cloudflare CDN active
  • Object Cache Pro enabled

Images have been:

  • Compressed
  • Converted to WebP
  • Regenerated thumbnails

Despite that, LCP and TBT remain very high.

Installed plugins:

  • Astra Widgets
  • Breeze
  • WPMailSMTP
  • Jetpack
  • MailPoet
  • Nitropack
  • WooPayments
  • WooCommerce Shipping & Tax
  • WooCommerce Extra Product Options
  • Variation Swatches
  • YITH Wishlist
  • Rank Math
  • And a few others

I suspect JavaScript bloat or plugin conflicts might be causing the high blocking time, but I’m not sure how to properly diagnose it.

Questions:

  1. Could too many WooCommerce extensions be slowing down product pages?
  2. Is Astra + multiple Woo plugins known to increase JS payload?
  3. Should I move from Breeze to a different caching setup?
  4. Would removing Jetpack or Google for WooCommerce significantly help?
  5. What’s the best way to identify which plugin is causing render-blocking scripts?

If anyone has dealt with similar WooCommerce mobile performance issues, I’d really appreciate guidance.

Happy to provide more details if needed.

Thank you!
