Random thoughts I had after my weekend trip to nyc

Theater or Audience Experience

For my 20th birthday I decided I wanted to go to NYC to see some Broadway shows. I am a huge Broadway fan, I have seen 50+ Broadway shows so this was not my first rodeo lol. I’m sitting here back at home and some thoughts just popped up and I wanted to share them.

I am wondering why so many people talk during shows, or comment on the show as it happens. I saw “Two Strangers” and this group of people behind me were commenting about what was happening as the actors were acting, they said something like “she didn’t have to do that” out loud. Then when I was at “Moulin Rouge” people behind me were talking, and that theater is loud and I could hear them clearly. They were talking at the end of the show, and they were basically saying the reason blank is happening is because she’s “gay.” I just don’t get it. I don’t know if it’s because I grew up with theater and have never done that.

Second is wondering why some people even go? I was sitting next to a man yesterday who didn’t clap at all during “Moulin Rouge,” no song, no dance number, nothing. Then down my row more I saw someone checking their phone multiple times. Why even buy the tickets if you’re not gonna enjoy yourself or you’re just gonna be checking your phone the whole time.

Plus men, why do you manspread? I don’t care about any excuses. I normally don’t mind this but my God, every man I was sitting next to this trip had his legs wide open and I had to keep mine closed so we wouldn’t be touching thighs.

Okay the last one was more a rant lol. I still enjoyed the shows, I highly recommend Two Strangers and Moulin Rouge. I just have a hard time trying to think of why people think this is okay.
