Did I actually make the right call buying an Alienware prebuilt?

Build Help

I know this subreddit has strong feelings about Alienware. Genuinely asking though.

I found a build a micocenter for $1500

I was going to build, started pricing it out on Newegg, and the numbers started scaring me. RTX 5070 alone is going for $649 right now. 32GB DDR5-5200 kits are $350-400 and climbing and they were $120 in May. By the time I added a Core Ultra 7 265KF, mobo, 1TB NVMe, 240mm AIO, 1000W Platinum PSU, case, and a Windows license I couldn’t get under $1,900.

The Alienware Aurora ACT1250 with all of that was $1,499 at Micro Center. Includes a keyboard and mouse too.

I pulled the trigger but the one thing genuinely bugging me is the proprietary motherboard. RAM, SSD, GPU and PSU are all standard and swappable but if the Dell mobo dies out of warranty am I completely stuck? Has anyone actually had to deal with this in practice?

Did I do okay or is there something obvious I’m missing?
