Why doesn’t this game have a finale?

I recently decided to finally finish Factorio. I’d left the game some time ago after completing Aquillo, at the point where you have to build the promethium harvester. The ship’s built, it collects promethium, and suddenly—boom—the game is over.

I thought there would be some big finale on the Shattered Planet. After all, our character is a castaway, so he should build some kind of antimatter ship or something like that and leave this star system. That could also be a big challenge, with the construction requiring enormous amounts of resources.

But no. The game just unexpectedly ends, just like that. Why exactly at that moment and not, say, 50 km farther? No idea.

It kind of disappointed me that 250 hours of an amazing game didn’t have some grand finale.
