Worth to change color grading style?

I've been thinking for a while about changing my editing style slightly towards something more natural. Until now I've been using a darker and moody aesthetic, but now I'm drawn to something a little softer, closer to portra 160, portra 400, kodak gold, etc. The problem that arises is that although I've tried to adjust my presets, something always comes out, and if I use a portra preset, let's say the style is quite different. How would you make the transition so that it's not too abrupt, and current clients feel that the photos don't match the ones displayed in the portfolio already in terms of colors?
