22F Elevator stall moment
I’ve buried this one deep no one knows, and I still replay it like my favorite secret movie.
I was at this fancy downtown conference last fall, the kind with suits everywhere and name tags. Between sessions I ducked into the service elevator to sneak a quick smoke on the loading dock level (bad habit, I know). Doors opened on floor 12 and this tall stranger in a sharp blazer stepped in same badge color as mine, so definitely attendee.
We nodded hello. Doors closed. Elevator didn’t move.
He hit the emergency stop button.
No words at first. Just eyes locked. Then he closed the gap in two steps, backed me against the wall, and kissed me like we’d been starving for it. My hands were already in his hair. His slid straight under my pencil skirt, found lace, pushed it aside. Fingers confident, precise curling just right while his mouth swallowed every tiny sound I tried to hide.
The little red emergency light blinked above us. I could feel the hum of the cables, hear distant voices in the hallway somewhere far off. My knees buckled when the rush hit I grabbed his tie to stay upright, bit his shoulder through his shirt to muffle myself. He held me through it, steady, whispering “good girl” once against my ear like it was the most normal thing.
Thirty seconds later he straightened my skirt, smoothed his blazer, hit the button to release the stop. Doors opened on the lobby like nothing happened. We stepped out in opposite directions without a backward glance. Never saw his face again after that weekend.
