Cat suddenly clingy and very energetic
It's probably fine, but any sudden change always makes me eye it more carefully.
My cat has become very clingy in recent days. He isn't a lap cat by any means but he's been sleeping on my feet, sleeping pressed against my side, even favoring being on my bed to do it instead of in his cat bed (which I keep on my bed for him as it was his preference).
He follows me from room to room more, slow blinks at me more, is more vocal with chirps and that lil purr meow. All generally good signs, but the suddenness of it raises a brow?
The only pull back is that he doesn't follow me into the bathroom anymore, which is odd.
He's also become extremely energetic. He's always been playful, but he's got zoomies which is new, I can't throw toys for him to pounce on enough, he's bouncing off the walls in a very literal way. He'll pass out for twenty minutes and then be back at it.
He seems fine, but he's very... routine centric is the best way to describe it? He's always been religious about his routine. He's always wanted to play at specific times, in specific places only. He's only ever slept in his beds and it's always at the same times. He's always followed me into the bathroom, but I have to close the door and let him ask and open it again or he gets huffy at me for breaking routine.
He's just about a year and a half old at this point. Is this a normal behavioral shift? The only change I can think of is that I have been going to a friend's to feed their cat while they're away. Could jealousy prompt a switch? He does know and like that cat, so if anything I'd think he was jealous of me seeing that cat. Maybe it's that I smelled of the cat? I dunno, but others have voiced noticing he's different with them too, and he was also shy with a new guest which is super unusual for him as he's the sort to quickly "claim" any new face.
