Growing onions for greens - advice needed
Hullo. So I don’t tolerate onions well but the greens of alliums (leek greens, spring onions) I get on with much better, it’s all to do with some type of sugar in the root, or something, who knows?
I have onions poking out of my compost with.nice big greens on them and im interested to learn how to grow them to prioritise greens rather than bulbs.
Would a good way to be to buy loose onions at the supermarket, plant them in rows and basically treat them like sets harvesting as I go? Will the compost around it keep feeding them through the season?
Also, any ways to use them in cooking would be gratefully received! I hear they’re tougher than spring onions but stir fry ok?
