Need urgent help with cramps in right leg as a beginner C25K runner

New Runner Advice

Hi everyone, I’m currently following a Couch to 5K plan and had completed about 3–4 weeks of intervals (progressed gradually from 1.5 min run to 3 min run intervals). Total mileage so far is only around 30 km. I do have a history of a mild L4–L5 disc bulge (no current pain, just occasional stiffness), so I’ve been trying to progress cautiously.

Recently I started feeling discomfort in my right leg, mainly around the outer ankle/peroneal area. The pain doesn’t spike immediately — it usually comes after 1–2 minutes of jogging and settles when I switch back to walking. No sharp pain, more like fatigue/tightness/cramps.

I’ve paused progression and reduced intervals for now while focusing on strength work. Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has dealt with something similar — should I modify the plan further, change something in training, or just continue with reduced intervals and gradual build-up?

My HR while jogging is between 130-160 BPM. When I started jogging up until 2 mins interval I didn't face any issue, but when I moved to 3 mins interval stiffness/cramps started appearing. I run twice a week on tuesday and Thursday and go to gym 3 days of a week.

Please suggest what should I do? Right now when I go for walk and if I try to jog for a minute the cramps start after justbone min of jogging, doesn't matter what the pace is. Really need your help here. Thanks
