I'm curious what if you do not want to raise the fry of ramirezi cichlids?

For those who keep cichlids like rams what if the pair starts spawning and you don't want to raise any of the fry? Will they all eventually get eaten? Do you have to place a strainer on the filter so that the new resident fry don't get sucked into the filter? If you don't do anything will they just increase like guppies.
