Is the upscaling tech in these abit overated?

I've recently got the lg C5, by the sounds of people's comments on here mainly they spoke about how the upscaling was so much better then other TVs, specifically better then the TCL c7k which a lot of people said the upscaling was really bad

I was using that TV for a month or so, from what I can tell everything I've watched just looks the same, nothing looks like any different to me, I've used apps like nowtv, netflix, itv, which are all I believe 1080p for what I've watched and the same content doesnt look different to me. I still have the c7k to compare, so wondered what exactly is so much better upscaled on this vs the tcl for example?

I am using the C5 on filmmaker mode, brightness 60 as quite bright room, sharpness 10, from what I understand the ai picture pro should be disabled, when I had this enabled I could see some weird ghosting in content
