Autopay on satisfied loan

I don’t check our loan portals very much. I just check our bank statements & see our monthly payments have been taken out. So, yearly I log onto our(married) student loan portals to grab the 1098-E Form to claim on our taxes.

Imagine my surprise to see one of our loans paid in full, a random 11k payment in earlier 2025. I really don’t know why, unless Bidens loan initiative did pay some accounts— teachers maybe? We did sign up for the loan relief when offered at the time but, ya know.

Anyways! The loan is paid. But the monthly payments were still taken out until 2026 began. Why?? Can we get this money back?? (The loan servicers payment tracker doesn’t even show these additional payments. Just that a 11k payment was made satisfying the loan and nothing after)

(Again I don’t check the portals I just see every month our payment it taken out & assume all is well.)
