Just as you read it. Fumo No. 7, Flandre Scarlet, was chosen by the fans through a vote organized by Gift in 2008.

After the success of the first four Fumos (Reimu Hakurei, Marisa Kirisame, Sakuya Izayoi, and Remilia Scarlet) and the announcement of two new ones (Patchouli Knowledge and Alice Margatroid), Gift decided to hold a survey so that fans could choose the next Fumo. The poll was announced on their blog via AkibaBlog and on Kanegon’s blog (the director of Gift).

Once the voting period ended, the results were published on Kanegon’s blog along with an illustration representing each character.

The results of the poll were as follows:

* **5th Place (four-way tie):** Alice Margatroid, Cirno, Suwako Moriya, and Ran Yakumo
* **4th Place:** Youmu Konpaku
* **3rd Place:** Yuyuko Saigyouji
* **2nd Place:** Patchouli Knowledge
* **1st Place:** Flandre Scarlet

The people who participated in the survey were entered into a raffle for a chance to win one of the six Fumos that were available at the time.

In this way, Flandre Scarlet remains, to this day, the only known Fumo that was directly chosen by the fans.
