Having kids when you don’t live by family
My husband just got a job nearby where we live after being long unemployed. We are so grateful! We want kids. I’m turning 32 this year, quite healthy.
The thing is- I was hoping whatever job he got would be in the next state over where his family lives (like within 30 mins drive). Being there would also cut the drive to MY parents to only 2 hours (currently 4.5 hours)
The point is: I’m so scared to have kids so far from both our sets of (thankfully so loving and supportive) parents. Not even necessarily free childcare but like sanity?? Support? Having my villages?
We will have a two bedroom place, so when the time comes down the road we can have guests. I’m just so scared of feeling isolated and without any help in between, and spending my baby’s life in the car. We don’t have close friends where we live- just gal pals who would happily come over for coffee.
Can anyone offer any insight on mid-distance families? Haha thank you
