Do You Function Test Your 22s After Cleaning?

I've heard varying opinions on dry firing 22s from "NEVER do it" to "it is safe in 99% of modern firearms", so I am wondering what people actually do in practice. After I clean and reassemble a firearm I always function check it, including with 22s. Do you function test your 22s after cleaning? Should I buy some snap caps, load one in the mag, then function test it that way?
