AIO: my coworker talked to me as if I was his wife.
I 20F work with 4 men (20M, 21M, 22M and 25M), I’m the only female tech that works at this dealership. Me and the 4 guys are the express technicians. We do the oil changes, tire rotations, replace filters, we can mount and balance a tire, we do rock chip repairs. Replace filters, and some other stuff. We are required to work Saturdays and we are only there for 6 hours. Please keep in mind we are not hourly workers. We do something called flag. You only get paid for the job you do. So even if I’m at work for 11 hours and flag 5 hours. I only get paid for the 5. It doesn’t pay out sometimes because I’m there for 100 hours every pay period but get roughly 60 hours and that’s with me busting my ass at work. Well this last Saturday, we have a way of getting a car to work on and we call it pulling. You click the space bar a couple times on your computer and if there is a car checked in and in queue it will show up on your computer. It is rare to have a car reassigned to you. The rule has always been you pull for another car, before you pull the car out of your bay that you just finished. We have a new guy 20Mthat started a few weeks back and I was explaining to him why we do it that way and how you are supposed to do i understand why he would struggle getting used to it when you have been doing it differently since he started there. But 25M never pulls before he takes a car out. I said in a polite yet bit more stern voice “hey you are supposed to pull before you pull the car out. You haven’t been doing that at all” and all he said back was “no one has ever told me that” in a very defensive mean way. Keep in mind. Me, 22M and 21M all have told him multiple times as well as the manager and managers manager. I told him “yes we have even manager has” (keeping names hidden sorry) he goes “Well I don’t give a FUCK! YOU CAN GO TALK TO MANAGER ABOUT IT THEN!!” All I said was fine and finished the paperwork on the car I had just done and walked out. Yes I am still going to talk to the manager because I am tired of his behavior. He never takes blame for anything he has done wrong. Manger had just had a conversation with all the techs (express and main) about how we shouldn’t be yelling, cursing, and throwing things just a few weeks ago. And not even a day later he had a handful of lug nuts from a car and he chucked them at the wall across from his bay. Now that doesn’t sound to bad other than we just got talked to about it. But someone walked through the door that the lights had happened to hit not even 5 seconds after he do it and I know that the is a lug nut still under the lift of the bay next to his from when he threw the lug nuts. He also has come in early (don’t sound bad yet but just wait) and finished all the PDI’s we had (those are pre delivery inspections on new cars that have just been delivered to us and we take the plastic out off the seats and we put side body molding pieces on) the only way for him to have came in that early was if he brought his door opened home (we had deadass garage door clicker openers) and manager has said not to bring those home because if someone takes it from you they can then go to your job and steal everyone’s nice tools and tool boxes. He has done that twice now. He also just sits on his ass and plays on his phone when we have cars. He take double what it takes me to do a full video inspection on a car while also sending up maintenance recommendations and what ever else recommendations a car has, the oil change and tire rotation. And I get the same pay as him. I bust my ass off for the same pay as him. And it fucking sucks. I did a video inspection, sent up maintenance items, did the oil change. Was looking for a nail in a tire, had to go grab another car, bring it back to In front of my garage door, do the rag light and side marker light and bring it back. Do the tire rotate on the other car and put everything away, filters, battery tester, torque the wheels, fill it with oil and sign my lines out and everything. Took me 40ish minutes maybe 43. And he did one car. One oil rotate in that time. I average 25 minutes for an inspection video, oil change and rotate.
