How to study qur'an?

Assalamu alaikum dear brothers and sisters.

How to learn Qur'an effectively? I am now capable of reading through efforts of learning the arabic alphabet, but reading is not enough.

I want to learn and understand what is in the book, everything, so that when I recite surah in my prayer i know what I am talking about and I feel every word I'll say.

I want to spend half of my remaining free time to study the book, especially now ramadan.
