New UTSC student - Looking for 1-2 bedroom.

Hi all, I'm moving from Montreal to Toronto with my boyfriend (who works from home) and two cats. We are looking for an affordable, well lit and spacious (not necessarily renovated) apartment / walkout basement in the area. We also have one car so transport should be easy by public transport / car as the parking can get expensive.

-Our budget would be max. 1600.
-What areas do you recommend?
-I'm using kijiji and fb marketplace to look, are there other platforms we should look into?
