BFs first base after bmt

My boyfriend and I have been dating for 3 years now and he finished BMT in Nov 2025 and will be leaving to his first assigned base (Spangdahlem, GER) in May this year. We’ve discussed marriage but its a no-go since we’re both 19y/o. We agreed that i’d come with him and just live wherever hes placed since he got assigned for 2 years. Anybody else thats chosen to go this route have any advice or things they wish they wouldve/would not have done?

We’ve also both tried to ask about the possibility of him living off base in an apartment/house because then i could just move in with him there and help pay rent but everybodys saying we wont find that out until he physically gets there. Any notes on this that anyone (service member or s/o) can share would be really appreciated.
