Seeking suggestions for finding information regarding, possibly Abenaki, great grandmother who was born in Quebec around 1900
As the title says, I'm looking for records from Quebec around 1900.
I'm told great grandmother was full Abenaki, but I don't have any verification. I have her parents names, and US records from her marriage/ census/ children, but nothing from Canada. It looks like she emigrated to the USA when she was six, and later married a man of European decent. I am trying to find any information about her from Canada, or information that may either confirm or refute her Abenaki heritage.
I know that this is a common trope, but I would like to either verify or quash the tale. If true, I would like to learn more about the culture to share with my children as part of their heritage, if false, I would like to try to correct the family understanding.
Thank you for any advice/assistance you may be able to provide.
