Reporting is becoming a full time job as we scale. How are people actually handling this?
We’re at that awkward growth stage where reporting suddenly matters a lot more but we don’t have a dedicated data team. Revenue, marketing spend, ops metrics, everything is growing but the data lives in too many places. CRM, ad platforms, accounting software, spreadsheets, exports from different teams. Every week turns into reconciling numbers that don’t quite match. Sales shows one version of revenue, finance adjusts it differently, marketing has its own attribution logic. We’ve built dashboards, but they only reflect whatever logic fed them. It feels less like a visualization issue and more like a data alignment problem. For those who’ve been through this, what actually worked, centralizing everything, hiring internally, changing tools or just tightening processes? Trying to avoid making reporting a full time cleanup role.
