Are my medical school debt preventing me from getting a credit card?

Help Needed / Question

I was denied for preapproval on Chase and Discovery. I have 8 years of credit currently at 720. Currently have one credit card with BoA, and 2 closed credit card from years prior. I can't think of anything else aside from low income or the massive medical school debt of $300k. It's just crazy to think opening a credit card in college was easier than now.

Is it worth it to open one at a physical location. Would someone worker there work with me or I'll just be wasting their time?
