Help with audio and microphone?

I have a pretty convoluted setup rn because i dont have the money for a microphone rn.

What i tried was using the audio channel for a controller and my microphone from the pc. Earphones in the controller and mic in the pc jack.

However this didn’t seem to work, if I disabled the mic it only picked up the controller audio, if i disabled the controller audio it only detected the mic.

Can i only get desktop audio and mic if its on the same device: Headphone (2 HD audio device)?

Yes I could just use the headphones but i find them uncomfortable to wear especially with my hair and i always prefer earphones.
