Am I in the right path to network engineering?

Hello all,

Long story short, I am currently in help desk and just received an offer for a network operator/technician position for a government contract. My goal is to become a network engineer and I just got my CCNA cert.

My question is, should I take this position or should I wait and keep applying until something better comes along (like a network admin role)? My fear is that this role does not provide a direct pathway to a network engineering position.

For context, here are the responsibilities listed in the job description:

\- troubleshoot Cisco and Juniper equipment (tier 1/2 support)

\- troubleshoot with Cisco command line

And NNMI

TLDR: Will a network technician position be enough to move directly to a network engineering position?
