How to make it through the last week of work?

Advice

Over the past six years, I have worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), initially balancing three jobs to maintain a steady income. I was reliable, often taking additional shifts, and while I was reserved, I contributed to my teams effectively. My nights were spent ensuring thorough and efficient care, starting rounds slightly early to minimize disruptions for residents, and completing charting and reports before the end of my shift.

In 2023, I experienced significant personal challenges, including having my third child and going through a divorce before reconciling with my spouse after his near-death experience. These events left emotional impacts that I still manage. I currently work the night shift due to my introverted nature and family schedule, but my workplace environment has become increasingly stressful. The facility struggles with disorganization, HIPAA violations, and I was falsely accused of neglecting a resident I never met, who later passed from sepsis. I provided proof of my innocence with schedules and charting records.

Working nights, I have observed tensions with my coworkers and the long-term night RN. Small misunderstandings, such as my preference to remain in my assigned hall and my avoidance of small talk, have contributed to a sense of isolation. I feel scrutinized for my work habits and uncomfortable with the RN’s delayed response to medication needs and occasional inappropriate behavior, including mishandling equipment in ways that make me uneasy.

Despite my dedication, the environment leaves me anxious and emotionally drained. I cry before shifts and require hours to mentally prepare. Gossip and delays in receiving shift reports contribute to my stress, and I often question my competence despite believing I perform my job hbetter than many permanent staff members. I have already submitted my two-week notice and have another job lined up.
