Did I overreact and ruin my friendship over a small issue?

I had a close friend in college. We used to talk a lot and were emotionally close. She would always say that we should hang out or go on trips, but at that time none of us had money or free time. Sometimes she would get upset that we didn’t make plans. One day I finally asked her to meet, but she refused. She said the place I suggested was too nearby and was usual. later said she was busy and would let me know when she was free. After that, she slowly stopped talking to all of us. She didn’t even wish me on my birthday, which hurt because earlier she used to get very excited about my birthday and even others birthdays and remind us all. Later I saw her hanging out with new friends from work. Recently she posted pictures from abroad. I messaged her and found out she had left two months earlier and hadn’t told any of us. She said only her family knew. I felt really hurt because we were close, but I didn’t confront her. I just left our group chat and decided to distance myself from everyone. The next day she asked in the group why I left and even forwarded our private conversation there, asking what I meant. Now I’m wondering if I overreacted. Was it wrong to leave without explaining? Should I have handled this differently?
