Hollywood hotels question for art gallery

Hey guys. I am assuming they aren't going to announce the art venue til the last moment so people aren't going to be weirdos.

I've never been to Hollywood, are there areas to avoid/better areas to book hotels that could be decent to book?

Trip planning is my 'tism so I'm probably over-thinking this but would love some input from people that have been in the area.
