Can anyone explain base Autocannon to me, please?

Disregarding OCs, what is it good at? The gun, in my own experience, feels worse at single target than both the Minigun and the Hurricane. It also feels worse at horde clearing than both the Minigun (somehow) and the Hurricane. If it's supposed to be a generalist, the Hurricane is also wayyyyy better at that role. It's extremely inaccurate, and this flaw isn't compensated for with good enough advantages. Its base direct damage at 14 is too low and its AOE damage at 9 is also way too low, even without mentioning the falloff, which reduces it down to a whopping 4 damage (I think). The only good thing about this gun the fear mod in t5. I love it with mortar rounds and carpet bomber. Big Bertha is fine. But the base gun itself leaves me dumbfounded. Why does it feel so bad?
