T&G switching to mail delivery, Sunday paper dropped

In one month, the Telegram and Gazette will be mailing their newspaper to subscribers instead of delivering by carrier. They say most subscribers can expect same-day delivery, but what about Sunday? Current subscribers are receiving a message that the Sunday Telegram will become a “weekend edition” released on Saturday. This ends 7-day publication of the paper. In pre-internet days, the Worcester Telegram and The Evening Gazette sold 150,000 papers every day. Now that’s down to 5,000. The news content currently is mostly 2 days old, and now you’ll have to wait 3 days before the newspaper tells you what happened on Friday. Sure, you can read it online but it’s a costly website and only about 3,000 people subscribe. Gannett (now known as USA Today Co.) has stuck a fork in the city’s news operation and they continue to bleed it dry.
