Midi mapping clip launch by layer

Hello! Ive been digging around for a while with no luck. Essentally, I have an akai MPK to control resolume with.

I want to assign layer selection to the pads, and then launch clips within that layer by using the piano keys fpr my left -> right selection. The issue is when assigning multiple clips in a column to the same midi note, all of them will be launched, rather than just the one in the selected layer.

I'm not sure how to accomplish what im going for, and the current workaround of switching octaves is pretty clunky.

Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!
