This sub is giving me closure I never thought I'd have...

General discussion

I hope this isn't rule-breaking, I mostly just want to thank this sub for existing in general. I'm not running any tests myself because unfortunately my dogs I would've tested are deceased, and I know that DNA tests that supposedly examine the DNA of deceased dogs are scams. If it is, I won't blame the mods for taking it down, haha.

But my dogs being long gone is exactly why I love this sub so much ever since I found it, because it's really helped me with making retroactive guesses, especially since I've found some of my old dogs' "twins" on here, so to speak. It just, well, as the title says, gives me a sense of closure that I thought I'd never have.

So, yeah... thank you all, this is such a lovely community and it's a great feeling to finally feel like I have answers. :) I don't actually have dogs at the moment but will definitely use Embark before I regret it next time, and I intend to do a Wisdom Panel on my cats, for fun and for the health test.

This sub genuinely does mean a lot to me! My advice to anyone else feeling a sense of regret over not purchasing a DNA test before their dog died, is to search on this sub for basic keywords including breeds you might guess. I now feel a lot more confident in saying my old dogs were an ACD mix--something I never would've guessed for her before I found this sub--and a chi/rattie mix with some other things tossed in.
