What shampoo to use after detangling severely matted hair?

I am helping a friend and she used mielle shampoo pomegranate with honey one and her hair is shedding a lot. Once we detangle her hair we shampoo the hair with conditioner. Should we change the shampoo? If yes please share the recommendations thank you.
