Accepted to ed school but...

Rant

I wanna start this post by apologizing for possibly coming off as pretentious in any way. I know I'm in a situation that others would love to be in, so I truly don't mean to offend anyone!

For some context, I go to a pretty competitive private high school, where basically anything non T20 is looked down upon. My three close friends got into T5 schools early, however I was deferred from my ed school, and as a result of my parents' panic I was strongly encouraged to apply ed2 to nyu stern as the "safe option". Initially, when I was accepted, I definitely wasn't upset, however I'm starting to regret it a lot. I have always been a top student, I had great ecs, awards, lors, and my writing wasn't too bad either. When I told some of my teachers I was committing to NYU Stern (after they asked), I could see a lot of them were visibly disappointed, with one even telling me they expected me to end up somewhere better. Additionally, another kid from my school ended up getting into Stern as well, however, she's got a pretty poor academic reputation (even a criminal history lol). Honestly, seeing that felt kinda like a slap in the face, especially because I've always held myself to very high academic standards. I feel like I've worked extremely hard the last few years of my life, only for it to kinda be overshadowed by my friends all getting into much better schools than me, and me in turn going to school with some people who aren't regarded for being "smart" (this sounds really pretentious ik...).

All in all, I'm just starting to wish I had taken a risk and tried for a more prestigious school. At the same time, I don't want to sound like an ahole because I know Stern is prestigious in many people's eyes, but with all of the reactions I've been getting, I'm starting to feel like people don't take it that seriously and it's not an accomplishment. Even my parents are regretting it after seeing where their other friends' kids r getting in, asking me if there's any way I can break my ed contract lol (dw I won't).

Sorry, this went on way longer than I intended. I guess I'm just looking for some advice on how to get over this inferiority complex or some words of wisdom from anyone who experienced something similar (if anyone even sees this post).
