AITAH for not enjoying a movie and not liking my boyfriends beard style
Im sorry if this is very rambly. Me and my boyfriend watched an Elvis documentary in a theater. He was very vague in describing the movie, I had no idea it was going to be a documentary style thing. He knows I'm not the biggest fan of Elvis. His family got all four of us tickets to see this movie, granted I'm very thankful, I didn't ask to see this movie. Needless to say I didn't enjoy the movie very much. Elvis live in theater? I think I'm allowed to not enjoy a movie, but just 30 minutes ago, my boyfriend seemed very upset. I was smoking outside (not weed, another different flower that indeed gets you high.) And he was silent. I asked him what's wrong, and if I did something. He said that I did something but wouldn't say what was wrong. He kept saying "I dont want to talk about it right now." But I feel like naturally if someone tells you that you did something wrong, your gonna want to at least know what the hell is going on. He finally said it was two things. I didn't enjoy the Elvis movie. He said I wasn't laughing at the jokes in the movie, that I didn't seem to be enjoying myself, and that I wasn't enjoying it a 4th of what he was... to which I explained what I already explained on here. He was fine all day until just now when I was smoking outside and high. I'm a little upset because a part of me feels like he waited to tell me this at a time like this, but I also did tell him like 10ish times to tell me what's wrong. Next thing you know, he's also upset because I didn't enjoy his new beard style. For context he got the mutton chops beard. The mustache and muttonchops combo. I'm not a big fan, and I made a joke at first by saying "it's not real, it's not real." And he laughed and everything seemed fine. But now it's just being revealed to me that it indeed made him feel bad. This i understand more because it has to do with looks. BUT in my defense a friend of ours got the same mutton chop, mustache combo, and he said it made him look like a douche and that it looked bad.
I know this isn't a big deal, I think it was the way he said everything. It just felt like this was such a nothing burger and it was made into this whole ordeal that it should have not been. I think I'm feeling worse because i essentially have no friends right now. All of my friends are his friends, and everytime he's upset like this, I'm kind of just... alone and can't do anything. Like I'm kind of isolated. But am I the asshole? Should have I just pretended to like the movie??? Was it a dick move for me to make a joke about his beard? I don't know what to do right now I just feel really isolated like I can't confide in anyone.
