How often to feed my axolotl?

[Backstory]

My friend and I got an axolotl around this time last year, and he mostly took care of it until he shipped out for the Navy in July. Since then, I’ve been the one taking care of Pablo (the axolotl) with the instructions my friend left for me. Before he left, he told me to feed him every other day, which I’ve been doing for months now. But now my friend and I wondering if I’m feeding him too much. We keep seeing conflicting information on how often to feed him, so I’m posting to get a definitive answer.
