What is the status of the DLC? Which actually do what

Been away from ASA since before Scorched Earth came out, which DLC are actually important?

Obviously the maps are straight forward, but what are Bobs Tall Tales, Fantastical Tames, and the Lost Colony expansion pass? Are those worth buying?
