Mom hits me after I joked I would put her in a nursing home, then tried to play it off as a joke when she realized I wasn’t “serious.”

I recently got a new job that pays pretty well but unfortunately for me my mom has been telling ANYONE who will listen to her about my career and how much I make. She also has been telling people I will be buying her stuff. I will NOT.

I’ve been looking for a bigger house with more space and she keeps saying she doesn’t want a two story, she doesn’t want a house with a pool. I told her she doesn’t get to dictate what house I get with my money. She had the nerve to say I WILL buy her a new car. That she knows I will. I told her NO. Her SUV has no problems, she just wants a new car. Later on she mentioned getting a new washing machine and when I asked how she would pay for it. I said no AGAIN.

later on we stopped by to visit an old family friend (let’s call her S)and mom was excitedly telling her about my career and how much I make. I chimed in the conversations, adding that I’m planning on saving up for a house deposit. S playfully asked if my would be living with me and I said no, that she would be in a nursing home. My mom turned to me and proceeded to hit me three times on my left shoulder and arm and then said “Absolutely not.”

I’m one of those people who bruises easily, and I had one on my left arm from accidentally bumping into a door frame.

Mom hit the bruise and to make matters worse she is heavy handed, and her hits hurt extremely bad. I screamed at her not to touch me and she only apologized because S told her she had no reason to be hitting me like that, regardless if I was

joking or not. Mom was trying to convince S she was joking but S lectured her again. I’m okay, and even after we left she kept apologizing but I’m still upset
