How Much Money Are Leaks Quietly Costing You?

Discussion

I work in content protection and I’ve spent the last few years tracking paid content leaks for subscription-based creators.

One thing I’ve noticed: most creators only focus on DMCA requests for obvious sites. But a large percentage of leaks happen on:

• Private forums that don’t index on Google

• File hosts that rotate links weekly

• Telegram groups

• Archive-style sites that re-upload after takedowns

The issue isn’t just the leak itself — it’s the long-term effect. When paid PPV spreads in private circles, it slowly chips away at conversion rates because the “free version” starts circulating.

A few things creators can do immediately:

1.	Reverse search your own thumbnails regularly

2.	Track repeat file hosts — they’re usually the same 5–10 platforms

3.	Monitor forums that don’t appear on the first 2 pages of Google

4.	Follow up on re-uploads (most happen within 7–14 days)

If anyone here wants insight on how to check whether their content is circulating beyond what’s visible on search engines, I’m happy to point you in the right direction.

Protecting your paywall is protecting your income.
