I was exposed to asbestos 4 times and silica one time. Am I at risk of developing lung cancer. I’m 14 and will be so annoyed if I get it like when im old.
So when I was 8 years old, my dad was removing some asbestos from the house (using a drill) (He was wearing protective gear like a hazmat suit a gas mask as well as spraying shaving foam into the spot where he was removing it to mitigate spread) and I walked outside whilst he was doing this and I held my breath but I did open my mouth to talk. Then maybe a year after that I went to a community thing where we were rennovating a kitchen and we had to demolish it, the building was very old and I wouldn’t be suprised if there was asbestos in there, we were hitting the walls with sledgehammers and stuff and I think the building is about 115 years old. I was there for about 3 - 4 hours only wearing gloves and eye protection. Then recently I went to a maratime museum with this old warship that had asbestos (that was covered) but I went into this small dark room without lights, without thinking and there was some kinda dust everywhere and it seemed like the door to it had been left open by accident. The most recent time was: We were using this ironing board as a dining table as we had just moved to a new country and didn’t have a dining table so we used this ironing board for like a year. Then like in December last year we took off the cover of it (which was two thick cloth things) and found asbestos. We were camping at the time so we were outside, I stood far away and it wasn’t very windy and tried to hold my breath. Then the time I was exposed to silica I was hitting two rocks together for like an hour and it was windy and there was some kinda dust going in my face. Will I get lung cancer and die? (I don’t smoke or vape and I generally eat healthy and try to limit consumption of processed meat).
