Welcome the 20th **audio drama review** of this Blog! Today I’m reviewing the audio drama called ***Hunters Moon***, written by **Guy Haley**. It's his 3rd contribution to the series, with ***The Shards of Erebus*** short shory in the ***Mark of Calth***\-anthology being his first and the audio drama ***Strike and Fade*** being the 2nd. This audio drama is a part of a **duology**, which just like ***A Thousand Sons*** and ***Prospero Burns*** were connected between the Legions a **Thousand Sons** and the **Space Wolves**, this is connected with the audio drama ***Thief of Revelation***. A dulogy of audio dramas is very common, as the same was made with ***The Dark King***/***The Lighting Tower*** as well, and ***Master of the First*** and ***The Long Night***.

We can begin to talk about the front cover. On it we see a lone unspecified **Space Wolf** as he is travelling through some sort of Warp way surrounded by symbolizing **Hydra-heads**. For those who are aware of the **Horus Heresy-background** knows that after the battle of **Prospero**, the **Space Wolves** and the **White Scars** were trapped in a ambush by the **Alpha Legion**. this heavily hints at this. I like it and with connection with the cover **Thief of Revelation** (both appear), I really like the cover. I will give this cover 7 out of 10 forks.

The outlined story is: As **sanctioned executioners**, the Wolves of **Fenris** were tasked with rooting out treachery at the heart of the Legions... but would they be capable of **carrying** out a death sentence upon one of the **Emperor’s own sons**? Now, a stolen **Alpha Legion dropship** crashes on the primitive oceanic world of **Pelago**, bringing news of a terrible war that has erupted out among the stars. Will the pursuing traitors, thirsty for vengeance, reach the lone survivor before his own **battle-brothers** can?

So during a **fishing-trip** on the backwater planet of **Pelago**, the fishermen; the story-teller called **Tidon**, old Ven and Sareo, **witnesses** the crash of the ship. This is a story told through a 1st person-view, which could be a homage to ***Prospero Burns*** which were seen from the point of view of a human as he explored the **Space Wolves Legion**. They sails to investigate the landing vessel after it has crashed.

Its later revealed to be an **Alpha Legion**\-ship. They investigate the ship and two **corpses** are found, a Space Wolf and an Alpha Legionarie. Where the **Alpha Legionnaire** is dead, the Wolf is revealed to be alive actually. Through some chaos, they manage to get off the ship where he introduces himself as **Torbjorn**, company **champion** of For, which is the **4th Company**. He begins to tell his story of how he ended up there.

After the sacking of **Prospero**, Leman Russ orders his sons to go out and watch out over his brothers to detect if anyone else is a **traitor**. These particularly **Space Wolves** were sent to watch over **Alpharius**. Because of pride when the **Primarch** orders them to kneel, the **Space Wolves** refuses, which triggers a **bloody** fight between them. The **Space Wolves** didn't stand a chance, but they didn't go out without a fight.

**Torbjorn** shoots and kills the Primarch. Or so he believes. After that he manages to escape on a **Stormbird** and heads towards the planet. That is **where** the story then began. Sometime after that, a ship bearing the emblem of the **Wolf** comes to the planet, and **Torbjorn** believes it to be his **brothers**. The ship carries the name the ***Hunters Moon***.

But out from the ships strides 6 **Alpha Legionaries**, one of them being the Primarch. **Torbjorn** races towards them to finish what he **started** but it's futile to even believe **otherwise**. He, Ven and Sareo doesn't survive the **encounter**. He is spared by the enemy leader as he **couldn't** think less of him. The story ends with the **story-teller** saying that **having** fear of the ocean is **nothing** compared to the **frightening** things out there in the **galaxy**.

So this story, unlike ***Thief of Revelation*** which serves as a bridge between ***A Thousand Sons*** and the up-coming ***The Crimson King*** **\[at the time of writing this\]**, this audio drama is self-contained story and doesn't **bridge** much between ***Prospero Burns*** and ***Scars*** more than the simple **inclusion** of battle between Space Wolves and the **Alpha Legion**. The story is self-contained, but at the **same** time doesn't affect much of the **bigger storyline**, nor will it be **continued** from here. So as much as it's **self-contained**, it also is pretty **pointless**.

I would have preferred if the story **connect** much more with the ambush at **Chondax**, and we would see more into the **Space Wolves** Legion, or continued the **story** of some of the heroes from ***Prospero Burns***. If you want a self-contained **somewhat** entertaining story, this is the **thing** for you, but I wouldn't **recommend** it as you can skip it and you would be the better without it actually. I will give this **audio drama** 4 out of 10 Forks.

The written prose can be found in ***Legacies of Betrayal***.
