Does the humor get better?

I'm a little over 2 hours into the first book and the humor isn't grabbing me, it's kinda turning me away from this series.

Everyone claims the humor is a highlight to the series but it doesn't feel like the right kind of dark humor. Like a lot of the humor feels weirdly racist with like a wink to it like "haha it's funny because I would get in trouble for saying this out loud but it's okay because I'm not saying it an AI is saying it" you know?

I'm really wondering if it gets better or if this is just how it is.
