If it takes less than 2 minutes…and then my brain delays it for 2-weeks? [ADHD/ASD/AuDHD]
ADHD/ASD/AuDHD brain logic is wild because I can do a full deep-dive into certain random topics… but replying to a text? Comes with more or an immediate block.
My personal greatest hits:
- the “simple” phone call that steals a large chunk of the day
- opening an email, and after replying needing to lie down for a minute
- knowing what to do but not being able to start (hello, task initiation)
What’s helped me (sometimes):
Lower the start: “open laptop” counts as a task
Body double: someone else in the room = brain starts behaving
Timer trick: 5 minutes only. After that I’m allowed to quit (I often don’t)
I’m curious: what’s your smallest “should be easy” task that destroys you… and what’s your hack that actually works?
